WSBA Bylaw 111: Rules Pertaining to Posting of Signs, Notices, Posters, etc.

(Effective Jan. 1994, ratified Oct. 1993)
(Revised February 2004, August 2004)

  1. All signs, notices, posters, announcements, etc. are to be placed on the bulletin boards only.
  2. All non-law school related advertisements, flyers, solicitations and other materials, excluding law school related advertisements, such as PMBR, PatBar, Westlaw, Lexis Nexis, etc., shall be posted on the General Information bulletin board, located on the west side of “the pit.” The WSBA reserves the right to remove and postings it deems to be in violation of this provision.
  3. This prohibits the placements of the above mentioned materials on: walls, bathrooms, doors, glass, posts, or on any non-bulletin surface, subject to the following exceptions:
    • Exceptions:
      Materials may be placed on otherwise restricted surfaces only in the following situations:

      1. WSBA elections – in accordance with article 8 and Bylaw 104 of the WSBA Constitution, materials may be placed by candidates at the specified locations per Bylaw 104(II)(C) no sooner than 6 days prior to the election.
      2. Special event – any recognized student organization may place materials advertising an event on the columns of the pit area no sooner than 1 week prior to the function, meeting, or event.
      3. Directions or instructions – any signs or notices approved by the Dean’s office that lend guidance to visitors attending functions at the law school.
    • Note:
      All materials must be removed from the restricted surfaces no later than one day after the function. If not removed by the sponsoring group, the WSBA executive council reserves the right to remove and discard any and all materials from the restricted surface. In all other instances where said materials are placed on restricted surfaces and do not fall within the above mentioned exceptions, they will be removed and discarded without notice by a WSBA executive council member.
