The Spring 2012 Washburn Student Bar Association (WSBA) Elections are around the corner. Here is a timetable of what to expect:

(1) Informational Meeting: Friday, January 13th at 12:00 p.m. in room 100

Available positions for Spring 2012 Elections:
-President (1 year term)
-Vice President (1 year term)
-Asst. Treasurer (1 semester term)
-Jr. KBA Representative (1 semester term)
-3 Representative-at-large positions (1 year term)
-J-Section Representative-at-large (1 year term)
-Section Representatives (1A, 1B, 2A, 2B, 3A, 3B) (1 semester term)

(2) “Meet and Greet”: Wednesday, January 18th and Thursday, January 19th at 12:00 p.m. in room 102 (Food will be provided).

(3) Spring 2012 Elections: Monday, January 23rd and Tuesday, January 24th from 8:00 a.m. until 3:00 p.m.

The WSBA Executive Council is always in need of student representatives who are committed and passionate about improving WSBA and the Washburn Law experience. Please consider running for a student representative position.

TICKETS ARE ON SALE NOW!

The Young Lawyers Section of the Kansas Bar Association is hosting a Topeka Roadrunners hockey game on January 20th at 7:05 p.m. in the Coors Light Party Zone. Please note that Party Zone guests must be 21 or over, as a private cash bar will be available. Tickets are on sale now for only $5 per person (a $20 value). Only 70 tickets will be available at this price, so be sure to get yours asap!

In the empty box, type in the number of tickets you wish to purchase, and click “Register Now.” Then, click “Go to Payments.” On the payments page, one of the required fields is your Kansas Supreme Court number. If you are a law student, type in “00000.”

Barrister’s Ball Charity Auction and Dinner
Saturday, November 12, 2011
Doors open at 6:00 p.m.
Dinner begins at 7:00 p.m.

Tickets, $25 each, are still available in the first floor commons during lunch. If you cannot make it to campus during lunch, please get a check to Jill Ethridge; tickets will be placed in your mail folder. Tickets are on a first come, first serve basis and are moving fast.

Please place your bids on the bidding sheets on the wall outside room 106.

The fall 2011 WSBA event is a trip to a Sporting KC soccer game on Saturday, October 15 at 3:00 p.m. This game against the New York Red Bulls is the final game of the season. The Washburn Student Bar Association and the Kansas Bar Association are co-sponsoring this great event.

WSBA has obtained a group rate for tickets to the game; seats are grouped together in a fantastic location at the South Stand of the new Livestrong Park. Tickets are $20.25 each.

Buses have been reserved to transport students and their guests to the game. Tailgating, complete with food and beverages, will also be provided before the game and will begin about 1 p.m. Buses will depart from Washburn at 12:00 pm in the north parking lot in front of the law school; please arrive at 11:30 am. Buses will return to Topeka after the game.

This event will also be a great opportunity to network as well.

Sporting KC now sits atop the Eastern Conference, and this game will be vital to clinch a spot in the playoffs. It WILL sell out so please purchase your tickets AS SOON AS POSSIBLE. There are more then enough spots for everyone to attend now, but they will fill up quickly.
