BLSA's first Black History Month event will be held on Tuesday, February 2nd, from 12:00-12:50, in Room 102. We invite you to watch "Ghosts of Mississippi" with us. This film is about Medgar Evers, a black civil-rights activist who was assassinated in his driveway in 1963. His accused killer was tried twice, but both trials ended in hung juries. The movie centers on the third trial, which takes place 30 years later.

There is currently an opportunity for advocacy volunteering as a client for the ABA/LSD Client Counseling Competition Team Practices that remain. This activity involves a short review of two pages of facts and then playing that particular hypothetical client for practice rounds for our teams of students. No particular standard of acting performance is required and you can refer back to your printed fact sheet during the interview. This is a great opportunity to volunteer for advocacy activities and to gain a perspective of how a client feels and perceives attorneys and an initial interview. It is also a great chance to see how the Competition works if you might be interested in trying out for the Washburn teams next year. The opportunity is open to all law students, including first year students. Contact Shawn Leisinger via e-mail at shawn.leisinger@washburn.edu if you are interested.
The current scheduled practices remaining:
