Ford to Feature Voice Controlled SYNC with Internet
Ford will be releasing a new version of its popular SYNC system (produced by Microsoft) with voice control functionality and the internet. No, cars are not going to start coming out with cellular data plans, the new MyFord Touch system will get access to the internet via your cellphone using blue tooth, Wi-Fi or USB . All functions, including internet, will be voice controlled, including AM/FM, radio, satellite, HD, CD, MP3, climate control, phone and navigation. Ford has released an SYNC API to allow developers to enable their applications to be controlled in your car by SYNC. Already on board is Pandora, Stitcher and OpenBeak.
At a time when more legislation is passed not to allow the use of cell phones in cars, we have more use promoted by Ford. Does this mean car manufacturers are going to start using their lobbying power to dissuade legislators or to maintain the hands free only use. This could also push the cell phone carriers.
