How do I insert a video?
You may find that if you insert the embed code from the youtube, google, yahoo and other video services, your video does not appear after saving your post or page.
This is how the wordpress system is setup, the design is to protect blog owners from having their blogs hijacked. Not all is lost we have a method to embed your videos.
- Activate the Video Embedder in your plugins page.
- Click the settings tab.
- Click the Video Embedder label on the bar.
- Listed are all the tags associated with the supported video sites. Below the “Save” button you will find the instructions to embed your video using the video id.
Seems confusing, lets do an example.
Say I want to embed a video of President Obama’s speech the night he was elected, November 4th 2008. Obviously we have to find the video. In this example I have chosen the youtube video at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Jll5baCAaQU. I know I need the video ID which is the characters after the equal sign (Jll5baCAaQU) in the URL. I also know I need to enclose that video ID with bracketts. The final entry appears as
